Muay Thai is a sport that you can train no matter who you are. You may think that the training of Muay Thai will only bring you increased knowledge in the world of martial arts. But that’s far from the case. While it’s true that you will become a proficient martial artist in the sense that you will learn how to defend yourself, it’s also true that you will be able to grow as a person with the help of Muay Thai.
The first thing that you will do as a Muay Thai practitioner is face your fears of violence. The fear of violence is one of the most potent forms of fears that a person can have. And not many people are able to deal with this potent form of fear. So, if you manage to conquer your fear and face violence, then you will do an immense service to yourself in terms of personal growth.
This is not to say that Muay Thai is a blood-sport. There are certain rules that you must obey if you train Muay Thai and if you do sparring or if you do Muay Thai matches. These rules are set in place so as to prevent a catastrophic injury from happening to you or your opponent. But you will still have a risk of getting injured – it’s in the nature of the sport.
One of the best things that you can do in the sense of conquering your fear of violence is to actually go and have a match against another Muay Thai practitioner. It’s one thing to go and fight on sparring and it’s entirely another thing to go in the ring and fight in an amateur or professional bout against a trained Muay Thai practitioner.
And there are many other aspects of your character that you can improve upon if you train Muay Thai. For one, you will increase your discipline and courage. You will also learn how to respect other people and work as a member of a Muay Thai team. So, this is a very smart thing to do – start training Muay Thai as soon as possible.
